316/316L Buttweld Fittings consist of 16–18% chromium, 10–14% nickel, and 2–3% molybdenum. The “L“ type has reduced carbon content (up to 0.03%) to reduce the precipitation of carbides and improve weldability. Mechanical properties are tensile strength of 515 MPa, yield strength of 205 MPa, and elongation of 35%. These fittings provide excellent corrosion resistance, especially chlorides and industrial chemicals. They also maintain strength and ductility at both extremes of temperature and can be used for numerous pressure and thermal applications in a wide range of industries requiring reliability and corrosion control.
