Stainless Steel 348/348H Forged Fittings are stabilized austenitic stainless steels with chromium (17-20%), nickel (8-11%), and columbium (niobium) added for superior high-temperature stability. Type 348H contains increased content of carbon for enhanced creep resistance. They have superior mechanical properties with tensile strength of approximately 515 MPa, yield strength of more than 205 MPa, and elongation as high as 35%. Their adequate oxidation resistance and reduced tendency to intergranular corrosion qualify them for use under stress. Niobium addition provides resistance against welding instability and long exposure to high temperature, and thus they are suitable for long-term industrial usage.
