Duplex Steel Forged Fittings are constructed from a balanced combination of ferritic and austenitic stainless steel and commonly comprise 22–25% chromium, 3–5% nickel, and 0.1–0.3% nitrogen. The composition is excellent against pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking. Duplex Steel is mechanically characterized by a tensile strength of approximately 620 MPa and a yield strength of 450 MPa, which is almost twice that of normal austenitic stainless steels. It also offers good weldability and high toughness, even at sub-zero temperatures, which makes it applicable for high-stress and corrosive conditions.
